Shen Qingqiu sighs. “Well I was going to give them to Zhangmen-shixiong. The scales of a female Burrowing Gem Worm can be ground into a powder that helps to purify and strengthen one’s life-force. But unfortunately this one turned out to be a male.”
“Why would Zhangmen-shixiong need such a powder?” Liu Qingge asks, frowning. Like both of them, Yue Qingyuan is functionally immortal, his life force self-sustaining by means of his golden core.
“Oh, I thought it might help with his Xuan Su problem,” Shen Qingqiu says blithely.
Liu Qingge blinks in confusion. “His what?”
Shen Qingqiu waves his hand. “You know… how whenever he draws his sword it drains his life force, slowly killing him?”

While dosed with poison, Shen Qingqiu accidentally tells Liu Qingge about Yue Qingyuan's problematic bond with the Xuan Su sword. Liu Qingge, in turn, decides to do something about it.
