It wasn’t until he finally hauled it out onto a shadowed corner of the deck and set it down with a quiet huff that he noticed something strange: the chest rattled. Not in the weighty, clinking way of gold coins, but lighter. Animated. And then—
“Ow! Luffy, stop kicking me!” A muffled voice yelped from within, followed by a low groan.
“Hey! You’re squishing me!” another, higher-pitched voice added.
Kakihara froze, his heartbeat loud enough to rival the crashing waves.
What in the hell—?
The latch on the chest jiggled. With a flicker of pure dread, he realized the noise wasn’t just his imagination. The lid cracked open, and three tousled heads popped out in quick succession: black hair, blond hair, and black again. Wide eyes stared back at him.
Kakihara, stranded in the east blue, takes the risk of stealing treasure from the Red-Haired Pirates ship. Somehow he comes out of it with a gaggle of children.
