Raph stayed awake watching over him, thrumming with anxiety over his brother in distress, and did not consider for even a moment that this wasn't natural. That everyone else didn't intuitively know exactly how their little brothers felt, all the way down to their bones. They were his whole wide world – of course he could. He couldn't imagine not knowing the beat of their heart as well as his own.

The best course of action would be the same thing he always did, apologize to his father and back off. But he couldn’t do that either. He wasn’t wrong. This is the night when, if all goes right, Lily can glue both halves of her world together into one satisfying whole. She just needs her husband and her lover to play along, to get along, to get past the last of Severus' hang-ups about James' role in their lives. She just needs Severus to see that James really does want him.
