It is hard to hear anything over the rush of blood in his ears, but he is trying desperately to pay attention to the princess's speech. She does not seem particularly happy about giving said speech, halting several times as if to gather strength to say her next words. Link attributes this hesitance to his youth. It is common for other knights to underestimate him in training due to him being a foot shorter than the lot of them, but he never failed at proving them wrong. Hates how nothing she does will unlock that power of hers, while his was handed to him on a silver platter. And yet, those small glimpses at the boy behind the mask lodge themselves in her heart. As the doomsday clock ticks closer, she’s left to wonder -- will she unlock her power in time to help Link save the world? Or will she be left to forever wonder what they could’ve been?

This is a retelling of Link’s memories from breath of the wild, from Zelda’s perspective. It won’t be completely canon -- it’ll be pretty faithful, but characters and exact scenarios will be adjusted slightly based on my own headcanons.
