He often lamented the loss of Byakuya’s longer silken tresses after the Winter War but he also adored the shorter ones and the way they slipped through his fingers. Could he give up everything in order to see to it that the future was changed? Would he, in a new timeline, still meet his mate and fall in love with him? Would it matter so long as his mate lived to see another day? A burning fire lights up in his chest as he turns away from the image of the raven-haired Shinigami Captain to look upon the Soul King.
