Summary
Yoongi thinks about him a lot. About his bright smile and warm, squeaky laugh that makes his eyes squeeze closed. Sometimes, Yoongi likes to pretend that the convenience store hyung is his boyfriend. That he could be his boyfriend.
It feels so real that he can almost imagine it could be true. That he can almost feel the warmth of another hand in his, fingers slotted between his own. The ghost of a laugh or another voice ringing through the quiet of his apartment.
Beautiful dreams, perfect fantasies. But none of it is real. None of it could ever happen.
Not because Yoongi is too shy to make a move or ask the guy out. Yoongi could do it. Or, more accurately, he could do it eventually. Work up the courage to ask the cashier out for real.
Or he would. But he can’t.
Because the man isn’t real.

Namjoon blinks.
“Did you make it?”
“Yeah.” Namjoon feels himself relax slightly. “I did.”
Namjoon wants to step back inside the photograph, relive that moment in time. Wants to remember that feeling of bright invincibility. A photograph is light and time, nothing more. It took fourteen years, but Namjoon feels like he has all the light and time in the world now.

Namjoon meets Yoongi at a New Year’s Eve Party. Fourteen years later, he finally meets him again.

“I have to go,” Yoongi blurts, almost stumbling as he tries to get out of Namjoon’s cubicle.
“Wait,” Namjoon begins, trying to protest. But Yoongi is already grabbing his coat, stepping swiftly away from their desks. “Yoongi-ssi, please -”
“Sorry,” Yoongi says quickly, “I have to…” he doesn’t finish the thought, turning quickly and fleeing toward the elevator. He practically runs, coat flapping behind him, leaving the subtle scent of citrus in his wake.

When Namjoon starts a new job, he finds himself intimidated by the senior analyst set to train him. It’s hard to get Yoongi to open up and be personable, but Namjoon’s efforts start to pay off. Until he accidentally discovers that Yoongi is an omega. When Yoongi starts avoiding him, Namjoon wants to make things right. Especially when he can’t stop thinking about how good Yoongi smells.
