Summary
Jinx’s hair is loose. The long locks hang far past her shoulders, down her back, all the way down to her feet. They had to take her hair out of their braids before putting her in the cell in case she was hiding anything in them, in that bronze jewelry holding it together.
She looks younger like this. The way her long hair frames her face makes her look softer, smaller. Caitlyn can faintly understand why Vi would try so hard to protect her. Like this, she looks harmless. Like a child. Just a little girl.
The thought strikes her hard.
Jinx is just a child.

Summary
I've recently been unexpectedly promoted to lead a department in my organisation, wrote the anonymous emailer.
As there was no one working here when I arrived, my manager, who is head of the organisation, had promised me the choice of my own assistants. However, without warning, he simply presented me with an additional assistant. This new assistant’s first act on his first day was to let a dog into the office. It took several hours to catch and clean up after this dog and it has only been downhill from there. I admit I'm not entirely sure what to do with this assistant now I'm stuck with him. I'm hoping you have some advice?
Kind regards,

Summary
Blue shrugged. “My mom thinks that you could use our help.”
“I don’t need—” Nathaniel started, but stopped before he said something rude. “Thanks, but psychic readings aren’t my thing.”
“Pshaw!” Blue said, her Henrietta accent thickening. “Listen, I wouldn’t have asked but…well, all of the psychics suggested it to me. Individually. Privately. And, before you ask, I’ve barely said anything to them about you, only that you were new and that your name is Mark.” Blue’s expression was earnest and worried, almost stressed. Nathaniel thought about all the rules that he and his mother lived by; going to visit the psychics would definitely be violating those rules, but he was intrigued. And if it meant getting Blue off his back about it…
“Fine,” Nathaniel said.

Summary
Jean has spent his life with violent animals, and knows what they look like just before they strike. This one does not show any of the signs.
But it is blocking the door.
Or, when Jean can’t sleep, he finds comfort in the stars. There seems to be a stray dog in the neighborhood with the same idea.
