In the pushing and scratching, somewhere, Shouto manages to grab one of his hands, then the other. He pushes back, harder, twisting Touya’s hands to try and sabotage his hold. Touya bares his teeth fully in a harsh, feral grin, pulling against it.
He doesn’t know what shifts, exactly. He doesn’t know what it even felt like. He knows it felt like something.

His wings went limp the moment those rocks fell on Oboro's form. Hearing his voice filled Shouta with hope, enough to finish the fight and apprehend the villain, but...
As the paramedics pulled Oboro's body out and onto a stretcher, Shouta's wings dragging lifelessly through the rubble behind him, he couldn't deny it anymore.
Oboro was gone.

“No,” Shouta didn’t move. “You never got to be a kid. There’s a difference.”
