Henry was surprised when he woke up to a phone call in the early hours of the morning, the incessant buzzing vibrating on the bedside table on his side of the bed. Next to him, Alex groaned, turned over onto his other side, pulled the covers over his head and went back to sleep.
“Henry?” a tinny voice answered, heavy stuttered breathing interrupting mid-word.
“Willie? Is that you?” Henry replies, sitting up in bed and leaning back against the wooden headboard. The cool, rigid wood in the winter weather brushing away the last cobwebs of sleep. Alex stirs next to him.
