Oscar swallowed hard, his throat tight.

Summary
“Now, I want you to fulfill the usual post-start procedure so from after the control line, four long burnouts and an extra round afterward. Copy that?”
Charles’ sizzling anger made him remain silent.
Fingers digging almost painfully into the steering wheel, shoulders tense, guts inside him wrenching, thoughts all over the place, and vision completely red, he didn’t answer the self-assured, forthright voice.
Something Max clearly expected.
“Charles, when I ask if you copy, you answer me immediately, or else I’ll interpret it as a problem with the radio connection or a medical emergency on your part. Understood?”
A loud, deep exhale, shaky with fury, sounded in the race engineer’s headset before an enforced answer was muttered through one’s teeth.
“Understood.”
“All right, did you copy the instructions I have given you?”
“Copy.”
“Perfect. That’s how I like it. You learn quickly. Now, let’s finally get to work, shall we?”
- or Max Verstappen, the renowned race engineer who has helped Red Bull Racing to four consecutive titles, joins Ferrari — not for Lewis, as everyone expects, but for Charles
