Summary
Once upon a time, when Kevin still couldn’t reach most adults’ shoulders and the roundness of his child face was evident, he made the mistake of having an expectation for the wrong person. The Master never deceived Kevin into thinking he was anything other than what he presented himself as. But. The young mind does this funny thing of giving out second chances undeserved. For its reasoning is maybe things will be different this time . Later, Riko told Kevin he was culpable. For having such a silly thought and the audacity in allowing it to leave his silly brain. Later, when Kevin was bent over in excruciating pain, eyes unseeing with his palm pressed protectively to the bloody bruises on his abdomen, Riko stood in the corner looking straight ahead and away away away from the scene in front of him. Later, Kevin angrily— heartbrokenly—buried all expectations of having a family to call his own, people who would love him the way his mother did and wouldn’t strike his child self for questioning something, anything; he had been foolish.
In which Kevin has a nightmare, thinks too hard about his childhood, and Andrew is there for him because he always is.
