Macau's face blooms scarlet, a barely there, choked-back whine of shock and pain the only sound before the courtyard, the bodyguards, what feels like the whole compound, freezes over with deathly silence. The sound of the city, the rush of Vegas’s blood, the galloping time itself, stills for just a second, and the only one unaware? His father, ready to hurl more poison in his pup’s face.
Gun’s always been blind to what’s right in front of him, though. Vegas knows it now.
The worry turns into fury and Vegas charges in.

It's been six months. Six months since Vegas came back to his body, unhurt and with memories of a future not yet past playing behind his eyelids. Six months of preparations, of fighting, of staying above the surface of his own doubts and planning for the inevitable to come. When it finally does, on his brother's quiet whine of pain, with his whole pack on the line, Vegas knows it's time. It's time to do what needs to be done. Once and for all.

There is a boy standing there. He's well-dressed, a slick shine to his hair, a gold chain glittering around his neck, a too-large suit making his shoulders appear comically broad for his slight frame.He sees the expression on the boy’s face, a reflection of his own. Unwilling, forced, trapped.

“Run away with me,” Vegas said softly, his voice almost a whisper.
Vegas saw the confusion in Pete’s eyes, and his voice trembled with emotion. “I know I fucked up,” he said, his words heavy with regret. “I’m a monster, I know. But let me make it right this time. Give me a chance, Pete.”
What if, that night at the back of the club, Vegas had asked Pete to run away with him? What if Pete had agreed?

Summary
Pete closed his eyes, pressing back the wave of nausea and the prickle of tears that threatened to spill. There was no going back now. The child inside him was the beginning of a chapter he didn’t know how to read, let alone write. Yet, in the stillness, Vegas’ voice echoed through his mind, raw and sincere:
"From now on, you're no longer my pet. You're the most important person in my life."
But would Vegas have room for one more? Or was this new life another fragile thing doomed to be lost in the turmoil that defined them both?
