It’s funny and ridiculous and every time Oikawa leans in, all smooth charm and goofy smiles to try and sweep him off his feet (words falling graciously from his lips — croissant, garage, Amèlie), Hajime can’t help but laugh out loud, all his love for this silly boy bursting and blossoming under his skin.

Being Spiderman and saving Tokyo on a daily basis from all kind of dangerous and eccentric villains is tiring, sure, but it is also greatly gratifying and, some days, Iwaizumi thinks it is almost worth the pain of suffering this fucker’s presence.

During Hajime’s third year in California, Oikawa pays him a surprise visit in the middle of December. He comes unannounced, like a storm of roaring happiness and laughter and smart-ass remarks.
When he returns to San Juan, behind him he leaves a probably condemned ficus bonsai (no matter what Hajime says), an endless string of amazing moments, and alarmingly low levels of mustard for the rest of the Irvine population.
That, and one more thing.
