Whatever Divinum impaled in her skin, it crackled like an icy lake underneath a heavy boot. It webbed itself beneath her skin, shattering against the Halos remnants that valiantly fought to keep her alive. It felt like her body was a clash of fire and ice, and while the burning fire in her veins was extinguishing the sharp spikes of cold- it was unrelenting. Ava could only jerk her head back as she bubbled through the portal. While her body was jerked alive in a battle to live, her mind couldn’t help but race, uncaring of the torment bleeding into her.
"I love you."
It was all Ava could think, looking at Beatrice’s face- partially caught between grief and shock.

"Alicent finally lifted her head, smiling just a bit, and saw Rhaenyra studying her with blatant interest. The boldness of it surprised her, and she struggled not to duck once more, her face aflame.
'I- I would be most honored, and most grateful to accept, your Grace.' Her father's hand pinched at her, and Alicent's spine stiffened. 'We thank you for your courtesy, my Princess. My King.'
Applause broke out amid the Court, and Rhaenyra smiled at her. A full, unguarded smile. Alicent did duck her head then, her face redder than the Keep, but her father did not notice this time.
The Hightowers had been welcomed back home."

Summary
A lifetime has passed since Alicent last saw Rhaenyra Targaryen. She has made good use of her time since and built her own peace, claiming a husband who takes his vows to the letter, a son who has replicated her every feature down to her wounds and flaws, and her own private practice as a therapist for King's Landing's elite.
Rhaenyra has done the same - or found her version of it, at least, after she took over the Dragonstone firm, dated old friends and met new lovers, one of them the woman she'll someday marry, and (half-)quit to embrace her family's historical mark on the art industry, set to release her first film in the coming months.
Everything takes a turn when, after seventeen years, Rhaenyra comes back to King's Landing and signs up to be Alicent's newest client, reviving a fire that now burns with terrible anger, irresistible manipulations, obsession bordering on need, and betrayals of everything they became without each other - starting with their partners and their promises to never (again) fall for each another.

Alicent is (not) Rhaenyra's therapist and they do (not) develop a co-dependent, childhood-inherited, shamelessly adulterous and sexually spiteful relationship.

Aged thirty-five, divorced, and a newly revealed lesbian who has yet to be offered any true experience in that world, she refuses to hold a device in her hand for more than a Sunday phone call to her father or a check-up on her son's wanderings, and even less to pursue women.
A promise that is soon broken when, after decades of weirdly charged friendship, she is introduced to Rhaenyra’s Instagram page - and to her great misery, to Rhaenyra's daily (and revealing) gym updates.
