The year is 2009, Sonetto’s second year as an undergraduate student at St. Pavlov Academy. She has straight hair, scores straight As, and follows a straightforward roadmap for her academic life. It’s meticulous work, but she always puts a particular effort into everything she does, except maybe her social relations.
Vertin was a long-time friend from secondary school, but one she only knew for a brief two years. It wasn’t until halfway through her first year that Sonetto realised she was back. She grew taller, let her hair fall, wore a fancy vest, and kept a golden timekeeper she always checked. The years apart gave her an allure of intrigue. Yet, she still possessed a familiarity that told Sonetto she remembered their time.
This year, Sonetto decides to get answers to where Vertin went and why she’s returned, until Schneider snatches Vertin’s time away, complicating the calculated girl’s plans. Who is she, and why do Vertin’s eyes look upon her with longing and sorrow? What will Sonetto uncover by stepping into Vertin’s world and unravelling the mysteries behind their lost time?

She was almost at the train station. Sonetto could already hear the distant sound of the whistle. A figure suddenly appeared at the intersection up ahead. Her heart tightened, and her steps slowed.
... That figure was so familiar, a figure that should not be here.
"Bang!" The gunshot exploded in her ears, close range, like a burst of earth-shattering thunder, and her brain went blank.
"... Vertin?"
Vertin turned her head and met Sonetto's wide fearful eyes. In those green irises, she saw her own reflected image, half obscured behind a smoking muzzle.

Summary
Sonetto realizes she and Vertin never addressed the issues they had before the break-away event. When she attempts to bring these unsaid feelings to the Timekeeper, she learns that time doesn't heal all wounds. The happy facade begins to crumble as the shadows of the past creep in. This time, it's her turn to reach out to Vertin.
"You make it sound like I hated you.” She touched Vertin's cheek. “Vertin–”
