Summary

Summary
Jiang Cheng bolted upright with a soundless scream that ended with him hyperventilating and desperately clutching his chest as the air refused to fill his chest.
"It was just a dream. It was just a dream. Just a horrible, horrible dream. A nightmare," he told himself, over and over as he struggled to calm down.
The war was over. He had his core back. Wei Wuxian was alive, fast asleep in his room one pavilion over. Wei Wuxian was alive and safe. He was alive, he was safe, he was-Jiang Cheng threw the covers off him and threw his doors open and ran, barefooted on the wooden walkways until he reached the pavilion Wei Wuxian was in.
He needed to get to Wei Wuxian, to see for himself that he was alive and safe and that the nightmare he'd had of Wen Zhuliu melting his shixiong's core had been just that- a nightmare.
Or: My take on ChengXian Week's day 1 Prompt: Hurt/Comfort, in which Jiang Cheng has a nightmare and runs to seek comfort from Wei Wuxian, not expecting to find out the truth in the process.
