“We are,” A'Yuqw says proudly.
“We are,” Din laughs. “Most would not consider it a compliment.”

Summary
Once, Colombina Quattrocchi used to mind her own business.
That's a lie, of course, she's always been too nosy for her own good - too curious. Too perceptive.
This is the first time, however, she's felt the need to go to such lengths.
(In which Xanxus used to visit a small local run bakery hidden in the heart of Palermo because it was the only one that made something he knew he would always enjoy, and a girl who works there begins to wonder where he went.)
“Colombina, a stock character of the ‘tricky servant’ type in traditional Italian comedic theatre, or ‘Commedia dell’arte’, is usually played without mask, but in possession of several distinct disguises with which to trick other characters and keep the audience on their toes. She is known for often being portrayed as grounded and able to see situations clearly, and frequently as the only functionally intelligent character on stage.”

“Do you know, Gimli, I would be happy to hear about your people’s memory of the Great Necklace, and the terrible dispute that led to the sack of Doriath. It was a tragedy of deep import."Gimli grew serious; he sat up and looked at Elrond for a long moment with grave, dark eyes. “Forgive me, Lord Elrond, but I don’t think you would. Be happy, I mean, when you heard our account of the thing."

one of the best fics I've ever read, hands down. I'm genuinely this close to making a Tolkien rec list just so I can tell people to read this and And What Happened After. two of the best fics in the fandom. going insane and bonkers. I live the way this portrays dwarves. the vibes? immaculate. I really dunno how to explain the effect this had on me. took like 30 minutes to read, felt like 5 bc of how smooth it was, will remember forever.
