“It wasn’t okay, and I wish I hadn’t done it. I wish I hadn’t done what I did to him, putting him in danger, and I wish I hadn’t done it to you. I never meant...” his words cracked, splinters painfully grating against his throat, “I never meant to sacrifice one relationship for another.”
The wind blew through them, making his mouth dry. It seemed to whisper in her voice – because of course she had to taunt him in his worst moments, even when she wasn’t there. Failure, it murmured. Panic set in, a silent poison spreading through his veins. He’d said too much, or too little. Maybe if he’d been a little better with words, a little better with people, a little better as a person, he would’ve figured out the perfect thing to say that would help.
But here, under Macaque, he was just Wukong.
Or: My take on a confrontation between the two, right after Lady Bone Demon's defeat.

“I could devour you right here,” Macaque whispered, his voice dark and husky. He pulled his hand away and moved it over to Wukong’s chest, fingers ghosting over the pec underneath his chest plate. “You have no idea how much I want to,” he confessed, the desperation raw in his tone. His fingers curled into Wukong’s chest plate, tugging on it gently as if he wanted to tear it off. “To ruin you, break you down until you’re mine in every way.”
Wukong swallowed thickly. His throat was dry as he tried to focus, but his mind was clouded, hazy from both the blood loss and the intensity of Macaque’s bloody gaze. Macaque’s instincts were screaming, and Wukong could feel it in every touch, every growl that rumbled from his chest. His hand trembled as he reached up, fingers brushing against Macaque’s wrist before cupping his hand closer to his cheek.
His breath hitched as his lips brushed against Macaque’s. He whispered, his voice hoarse and shaky, “Then… what are you waiting for?”

Summary
Since their day out on the beach after the things that had happened in the scroll, Wukong came to the rather silly realization that he needs somewhere to live. His hut had gotten–kinda– very destroyed in their fight with Azure, and he doesn't feel like sleeping in his trees anymore.
He can't ask the kid. His apartment is barely big enough for him to live comfortably in. He can't ask any of his old 'pals' hense the problem.
Mk suggests that he asks Macaque. But there was no way they could live together until his place was fixed. Right?

Summary
On the good days, when the days were calm and the mountain still in a peaceful way, Wukong could look back on the ‘Old days’ with something akin to fondness. Though perhaps fondness wasn’t the right word for it, not in the truest sense, at least. Lukewarm affection may be a more appropriate phrase for it.
He could smile and talk of his journeys, his battles, his…. friends with only the slightest tinge of dread or heartache, depending on the story.
It’s the other days he needs to worry about. When there’s been one fight too many, when he’s been left alone with his thoughts for too long, or when he’s forced to become acutely aware of the distance between him and well… everyone that the doubts start crawling in.
