Summary
The scar under the fabric of her eyepatch often aches and itches and sometimes she wishes that the socket was just hollow instead. Perhaps looking at herself in the mirror would vex her less as the eye was still there though clouded over. Unusable.
It was as if the very presence of it was tormenting her. She wanted to claw it out with her own fingers, crushing it underfoot. The broken organ had a voice too—mocking and sinister. Cold and familiar.
Needless to say, it was driving her insane.

When it was just him turning feelings round in his head, that was one thing, wasn't it? But it's Edwin who looks at him out of the corner of his eye now, when he thinks Charles isn't looking. And it's Edwin who goes stiff when Charles touches him and then melts into it. And it's Edwin who gets all prissy and properly defensive when he's trying to cover up he's been staring.
And if it was just Charles, well, he's been fighting down the way his chest goes sort of fluttery every time Edwin touches him for about three decades, hasn't he?
But it's not just Charles anymore, is the thing.
