Summary
It was quiet. Too quiet.
Shadow came to a quick, abrupt stop, causing Sonic to crash into him with a half-assed attempt to come to a skidding stop. Sonic got a faceful of spines while Shadow was left with his dignity almost destroyed. He snarled, whipping around and facing his rival.
"Hedgehog, can't you stop quicker?" Shadow spat.
Sonic mumbled a quick apology, and then Shadow's ears perked up as he turned to investigate the noise he had just heard. He rushed through the town, locating the screams — the cries — for help.
Shadow swore as he noticed mobians in the destruction of the town, trapped under rubble and stuck in places they could not get out of.

Nobody expected the world would be pushed into this state; bleak and hopeless.
The Resistance has been formed, and Eggman's hold on the Earth has strengthened with a mysterious figure by his side; Shadow, Sonic, and their friends must figure out how to defeat Eggman and bring peace to the world again.
But things are far more difficult than they originally seemed.

Summary
“You are simple.” Shadow snorts after a moment. Earning a quizzical look from the hedgehog above him.
“Whaddya’ mean by that?”
Shadow blinks lamely. Before an earth shattering grin splits his lips. “Did you not already put it into words for me?” He purrs. Arching his back to press his chest into Sonic’s. “I need someone who can keep up. Isn’t that you? Fastest creature alive?”
“Oh, Shads.” Sonic hums, the eyes that have flickered from emerald diamonds to blue lightning spit and crackle once more, a sight Shadow has seen a dozen times in the face of danger, death. It should be a warning of fear, battle, blood.
It just makes his body squeeze from the inside out. Curling his nails into his palms excitedly as Sonic’s lips hover so closely on his own, they may as well be touching.
“You’ll never be able to outrun me.” He says lowly, before their lips are touching once more. Snouts bumping against each other as their kisses divulge into hungry, wet, messy things. The echoes of their sensual hunger are obscene enough to make their spikes bristle, feeling more hunger curl in the pits of their tummies.

“What’s going on?” Maria asked.
“I don’t know,” Shadow replied, getting off the bed and walking to the door. After hesitating, Shadow opened the door and followed the sounds down the hallway to the main entrance.
There were bolts of blue lighting dancing across the room, and guards went down left and right by something too fast for anyone to see. The guards fired into the room, panicked, but the blue blur of lighting was relentless and soon no one was left standing.
Shadow stood at the edge of the room, eyes and mouth agape as the blue blur finally stood still, standing over the unconscious guards. It was a hedgehog! It looked like–
“Shadow,” Maria breathed out, appearing beside Shadow. “He looks just like you.”
