Amnon continues to grind his teeth, a conflicted look in his eyes as he stares into Gale’s brown ones. Eventually, he sighs defeatedly, before turning to face the fabric of the tent to his left.
“Do you remember what you told me, all those nights ago when I asked you how you felt about having a vampire in our camp?” He asks, sounding strangely distant. When Gale fails to answer, the man turns his attention back at him, a defeated acceptance in his eyes, “‘We all have our burdens, one way or another’. This is my burden to bear. Alone.” He looks at Gale resolutely, as if silently asking for the wizard to understand.
Gale does not.
