Vi was the first to break their heated gaze. And the silence. “I guess I ought to go clean my face properly.” She should, but Caitlyn didn’t want her to go. She didn’t want Vi to be left alone.
“Your nose still needs a splint. I’ll come with you.”
Vi chuckled, “I thought I was loathsome.”
"You are," Caitlyn said, breaking the tension with a warm smile, "but I don’t leave anything half-finished."
Caitlyn rifled through the first aid kit for the items she wanted, a soft bandage to cover Vi’s nose and some medical tape to secure both her nose and the sterile pad in place. She placed them into a small belt pouch that came in the box and secured that to one of the loops on her waistband. Every movement felt scrutinised. Caitlyn could feel Vi’s heavy gaze on her as she worked...

Summary
