Greg had the audacity to laugh at that. “Yes, but the surprises you like are the ones you have a hand in, where you set the parameters and rigorously observe the whole thing.” He sounded unbearably smug, made all the worse by the fact that Alex really couldn’t contradict him. “Because you’re a control freak.”
Alex scowled. “Mm.”
Greg’s smile softened, and he tugged Alex to him to kiss his temple. “My little control freak,” he said affectionately.

It had been six weeks since Greg had seen Alex. After the breakdown, Alex had texted him that he was going to his parents and that he wouldn’t be in touch. All of Alex’s projects were on hold—including Taskmaster—indefinitely. At first Greg tried to be calm about it. People have breakdowns all the time, why wouldn’t Alex?
