Summary
“I lost my virginity to one of the Ravens,” Jean had said with a shrug in a moment of silence. “Does that count?”
The two of them had shared story after story and if Jean was normal in that silence he would’ve shared his own. But he isn’t normal, so he didn’t. He instead said that and didn’t realize the effect it would have until it was too late.
Jean did not talk about it a lot, at all really, not since Grayson had shown his face and allegedly killed himself a week later. But the girls knew enough.
Jean had looked up to see small, sad smiles staring back at him. He had meant the words to be casual but the implication made them sink fast like heavy weights dropped into still water. He felt the intense need to claw off his mouth with his nails, but Jean had learned quickly with the Trojans that it was not a thing well-adjusted people do and caused unnecessary worry. Instead, since Jean was still in grips with his sanity, he clenched his hands into fists and let the nails bite into the skin of his palms. Effective and discrete.
“No, Jean,” Laila had said sweetly. “That doesn’t count. Not if you don’t want it to.”
Jean hadn’t understood.

Summary
“He’s joining us earlier than we anticipated.”
“He’s a flight risk. This way there should be no more risk of him getting away from you. I’ve killed his mother. He belongs to you.”
“Six years old and already training in the Raven’s nest. He will be a player that won’t be rivaled.”
Nathaniel lives a hard life in the ravens nest, choosing Jean and Kevin's safety and happiness over his own constantly. Like the martyr he is. Then one day he is given a chance. It's a fools bet, and Nathaniel is unlikely to win it.
But he has one season to take the Foxes to championships and win.
If he doesn't, well.. he doesn't like the other options.
So he makes his own. Win or die.

Summary
"I need your help with something," Nicky says solemnly, the Minyard's shared genes shining through again. "And even if you don't say yes, you can never tell anyone. Not Andrew, not Coach, not even Bee."
He thinks about it for a few moments. It's serious serious, whatever it is, and he's never come across something that even Andrew can't be told. Kevin knows he's probably going to regret it- especially since it's Nicky asking, no matter how scarily serious he currently is- but. But he's now extremely curious and it's Nicky and three am is a good time for bad decisions anyway, so-
"I promise," Kevin says quietly and Nicky exhales.
"Alright. Luther got out of prison, along with everyone else involved in Andrew's previous cases," Nicky says and Kevin sucks in a sharp breath and grabs at the other's arm, horrified. Nicky nods gravely, eyes serious and steady. "I'm going to go kill them all."

Summary
Neil should have been dead by now. He signed his name on the dotted line knowing his fate. There was a hope however slim that arose after the countdown stopped. The numbers had ticked down every day, but stopped on three.
The reason became clear when Neil typed his father’s name into the search engine of Matt’s laptop. "Nathan Wesninski: found dead two days after release from prison." Neil whooped so loudly with joy that he received angry knocks at the door from soccer players down the hall.
His joy fizzled slightly at the thought of the foxes. They deserved the truth about who he is and if he was going to live, he needed to tell them. The task was daunting. To confront the reality of his story was something Neil wasn’t ready for.
Neil promised himself he would tell them. One truth at a time.
