Merging Viktor with the Hexcore has unexpected consequences. When Jayce arrives at the commune after six months in the failed timeline, Viktor is pregnant. For a few blissful moments Jayce abandons his mission, ready to accept the peace and happiness of a life with Viktor and their child. Then Viktor tells Jayce of his plans for their baby to join the Glorious Evolution, and the vision shatters.
