Close is never close enough. If he could just…peel back the realities that separate them, make them so that blood flows from Dean’s heart to Cas’ kidneys, signals from Cas’ brain moving Dean’s feet, that might be enough. Cas read a poem once, by Pablo Neruda: “so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,” he’d written, unaware that Dean’s hand on Cas’ chest is Cas’, as Dean is Cas’ and Cas is Dean’s.

Summary
Castiel didn’t know it was possible to pray to an angel while dreaming, yet Dean continues to defy odds, doing just that. Dean’s dreams were normal at first; he and Cas would drink together or they’d be in the middle of a hunt fighting a horde of vampires with Sam.
But then Dean starts dreaming of Castiel in different scenarios—sexual scenarios—and Castiel has to not only decide his feelings about that, but also if Dean really wants him while awake like he does while sleeping.
