“I want…” he starts softly, lips hardly even meeting. Even in hesitation, his voice runs smoothly over her, tugs at the last traces of resolve, and she waits for the bloom of detonation in the palm of his hand. “I want… I want….” She catches sight of the faintest trace of a y forming at trembling lips. He’s beautiful, so achingly beautiful; resilience withers and leaves desperation fraying his edges, and Zelda thinks she might fade away when she draws to the realization for the first time—Link loves her.
He’s in love with her.

Her eyes are as green as Faron’s forests, and they glisten with tears.
“Do…Do you really remember me?” she asks, her voice shaking as she begs, “Please, please say that you do.”
Link stares at her, at this beautiful girl he only remembers in thirteen fragments, and shakes his head. He doesn’t remember that much about himself, but he knows that he’s not a liar. “Not all of you, Princess.”
Something in her face changes, her eyebrows on the verge of furrowing. “Princess?”
Frowning, Link nods. “Princess Zelda. I…I am getting your name right, right?”
Right? He doesn’t remember hearing it that much in his memories but it’s what Rhoam said on the Great Plateau, that his daughter is Princess Zelda and that he had to save her as soon as possible-
“Is it?” she asks. “My…My name is Princess Zelda?”
“What…” he trails off. “What do you mean? You don’t…You don’t know your own name?”
OR
Link finally saves Zelda from Calamity Ganon's clutches, desperate for her to tell him who he is. It turns out she doesn't know him, either.

Zelda looks at him. Takes in his knit forehead and the desperation she's never seen in him until now. She swallows, struggling to keep her voice from trembling as she whispers, "They're mine, too, Link."
His heavy gaze dips, and for a moment, the crackle of her fallen torch is all there is. The seconds tick by. Five. Five more precious seconds he's stealing from her.
That she's letting him steal from her.
Then, his eyes lift, and he says:
"Let's make a deal."
