Summary
Marinette was cursed by a dragon when she was a small child; every night she's engulfed in flames that are beyond her control.
After cursing her, the dragon stayed close, endlessly circling a stone tower at the top of the mountain. Eventually a handsome reward is offered to remove the dragon's threat from the village. Many had already tried and failed.
After almost burning her parents' house down, Marinette decides to try for the reward to repair the damage. Who better to kill the dragon, Marinette reasoned, than a girl who's already on fire?

Summary

Chat Noir stops by to help Marinette with her design block. When he finds out the design is for Luka, he has to figure out why that bothers him. Surely it's because she's a very good friend, right? Meanwhile, Marinette struggles with letting go of Adrien and figuring out why Chat Noir is suddenly acting so differently...

The bag looped over her shoulder went flying, spilling books and papers and colored pencils everywhere. “Oh,” Marinette sighed in exasperation as she got up. Alya and Adrien were already out of their seats, picking up her dropped things. Marinette thanked them distractedly as she picked up the books nearest her, and then she froze as she saw a notebook lying open on the steps, right at Lila’s feet.
The words “Marinette Couffaine” were plainly visible, along with hearts and flowers and—Marinette’s heart leapt into her throat as Lila grinned slowly, and got up to pick up the notebook, as if she were just helping Marinette out too.

This story was originally published as part of my Month of Miracles December prompt month, and I'm finally pulling it out to stand as its own work, as it took over so much of that month. I've reordered a couple things and added a couple new pieces to bridge awkward spots.
HALLMARK MOVIE AU
Marinette is working her dream job, designing under Audrey Bourgeois in the big city, but somehow she just isn't happy. When her grandmother insists that Marinette come visit her small town home to housesit while Gina's on a trip, Marinette just sees it as a chance to get away from the pressures of the city for a little while. She didn't expect to make such good friends, or to find a handsome burned out rock star working on the local Christmas tree farm.
