“It’s fine, Anne,” she snapped, glaring at her with an intensity that made Anne flinch. Immediately, Sasha recoiled at her own reaction, looking away, feeling guilt wash over her. “Sorry. I’m just… it’s just…” Sasha trailed off, unable to find the right words, “I just can’t believe…” She bit her tongue, her hands balling into fists as the memory of her mom kicking her out replayed in her mind. It felt so unfair.

To her and Marcy’s surprise, Anne put a finger down. “What?” Sasha asked, she meant for it to be a joke, and she didn’t really expect anybody to actually put a finger down. “When-“
“Drop it,” Anne whispered.
Sasha frowned, “Anne, this is serious. When did you drink? Why-” Anne glared at her, “Drop it, Sasha.” Anne growled. Sasha raised her hands in surrender, “O-Okay, it’s your turn, Marbles.” Marcy blinked, looking between Sasha and Anne with a weary gaze.

Sasha, with her fierce loyalty and strength. Marcy, with her quantifiable brain and spontaneous bursts of knowledge. Each memory was a thread, woven into the fabric of her being, yet now they felt like brittle leaves, crumbling at her fingertips. She couldn’t even crack a smile. “What’s wrong with me?” she lamented. She thought about the time the three of them left Amphibia for good. She’s not even sure if she really felt anything then. She just assumed she was sad.
