Summary
Kokichi gets lost in the forest after Rantaro takes them on a trip together. In his haste to find his friend, Kokichi might have just gotten himself stuck in the trap of a lonely will ‘o wisp who is hellbent on keeping him there.

Among the different types of wildflowers lining the banks (Rantaro would know each one, and would fill Kokichi’s head with useless, useless information even as he rolled his eyes at Rantaro’s rambling, secretly interested but would never admit it), there was one Kokichi did recognize; the small baby blue flowers in bunchs, the forget-me-nots. Once, Rantaro had pointed them out on campus, the tiny flowers sprouting out from just below a marble staircase.
They symbolize truth and forgiveness, among other things, he knew thanks to Shinguji, who was happy to tell him once, when he got curious.
He wonders if there’s a flower out there that represents lies. Like him.

“K-Kokichi?!”
Shuichi stared down in horror as copious amounts of pink blood flowed out of the cut in Kokichi’s finger. Kokichi himself watched it blankly, his eyes watering from the pain. A brief lapse in concentration, a quick glance upward, was a not-fatal-but-close mistake.
And before he could could cover it up with a strained smile and a nearly-hysterical giggle to reassure his detective it was all a lie, his own plan to make him worry and steal him away from the rest of his friends, Shuichi had run off with a proclamation that he would go find some bandages, just, please wait here!
Oh well. He supposes that he could always salvage his reputation later. He might as well enjoy this small bit of kindness that was so out of place in a killing game.

The second the receiver goes off, Shuichi is running out of that classroom, determination powering every step of his. He has to find the mastermind, before a murder occurs--!
Well. When you're the target for a murder, things become a little more difficult. As Shuichi's foot hits that bottom step, he effectively springs the trap that should have taken his life and begun the killing game--and yet somehow, he survived, leaving the rest of the class shocked at the attempt on his life, and even more surprised when they discover that one of them really did succumb to a separate attack.
Shuichi had thought, had hoped, that after the first failed murder attempt, his attacker would have given up and left him be.
Oh how wrong he was.
