Summary
Before she was the most hated woman in history, Helen of Sparta was a young woman ready to marry at her father’s command. As rumor spread of her eligibility, Helen’s father commissions a convoy of kings to escort her to the temple of Delphi to seek the oracle’s guidance as to whom she should marry. Upon the convoy’s arrival, Helen discovers that the childhood friend who wronged her, Meneh Atreus, is to accompany her on the voyage. Over time, Helen discovers that hatred and desire can burn with the same heat.
Amongst the people traveling with Helen is Petra, a young woman rescued from slavery by the king of Ithaca, Odysseus. While Petra and Odysseus have a complicated and toxic relationship, Petra can’t escape the way she is drawn to him. Even though Petra is in love with Odysseus, she cannot deny the bond she has with her best friend, Ajax.
As the convoy travels to Delphi, relationships are tested, gods intervene, and boundaries are tested as women fight for their right to be heard while powerful men try to smother their voices.

“There is… one place you could go.” Crowley would not like it. Aziraphale probably wouldn’t, either. But until he could return the stolen property, or get Heaven to write it off as a loss, he couldn’t think of any other options.
“Where?” The demon brought his eyes to Aziraphale, still just as pained as they had been moments ago. Aziraphale was smart. Smartest person he knew. If there was a place he was overlooking, the angel would know it. “I’m not leaving you.”
“Quite the opposite, actually.” Aziraphale’s voice was nervous now as he stepped away from Crowley gently, and opened his arms.
“Angel.” Crowley sized him up then, trying to catch any hint of jest in his tone or actions. When he saw none, he shook his head. “No.”
