Armin’s world crumbles. It is utterly agonizing, soul-splitting in the most devastating way. His gut wrenches with it, aches to grasp at Eren’s stupid, tattered jacket and shout at him, beg and plead for another way. To trample the world flat, to singe and ravage and maul; that was forgivable. Reasonable. Understandable. The monster that Armin had come to know was destined for it.
To leave Armin behind was another matter entirely. Eren would never. The Eren he used to know would never.
And yet, he did. He is.
