Summary
Oliver never gets the chance to go to Italy in 1983. Instead, he meets Elio for the first time on a spring evening in 1988. They are attracted to each other like magnets, but life’s impossibilities pull them apart in the morning. To make it easier to say goodbye, Oliver suggests a pact to meet ten years later; same time, same place.
