Astarion threads his fingers through the Druid’s hair, petting him, voice thick as he says: “Look at you… You’re absolutely gagging for it, aren’t you, pup? Not a thought in your head besides what you were actually made for.”

Summary
Astarion had been in a coma for nearly two weeks.
Amaris stayed at his bedside ever since, always holding his hand, always talking to him as if he were awake. But the pale elf lay unmoving in that bed—unmoving but still breathing. At least he was still breathing, but it wasn’t enough, and Amaris grew more and more anxious each day. Her nerves tangled. Her body stiffened. She always forgot to eat and drink until her companions reminded her. Gale, in particular, always coaxed her to get out of the room every once in a while to take a breather, but nothing she did seemed to wake Astarion.
“It’s my fault, it’s my fault,” she told them again and again.
Amaris didn’t know what went wrong. She was so sure she had all the right ingredients for a cure. She was so gods-damned sure she had it right, but there must have been some miscalculation somewhere along the way. If only she had checked one more time, if only she hadn’t hastened the process. Amaris wanted Astarion to walk in the sun so badly that she somehow lost sight of the most crucial step. Somehow. Somehow.
