Summary
He covers his eyes pressing his palms hard into them causing white spots to dance behind closed lids. He drops his hands and gives a real laugh, quiet but genuine, though mirthless. His daughter. His big damn secret. He has more than a few secrets to be sure but none of them were ever going to knock on his door in the middle of a rainstorm and ask for his help. Not even help, he realizes. She is asking, whether she fully knows it, for him to save her. He is a limping disaster of man, only good at one thing: medicine. She doesn't need a diagnosis, she needs him to say yes to something he is sure he will fuck up somehow.
When his 'big damn secret' comes to him for help House must deal with the fact that he made a mistake in letting his daughter go sixteen years ago. She needs his help to escape her abusive step father and House is forced to confront his own demons with his abusive father. House and Wilson work together to help Evelyn while Houses life is fraught with it's usual complications; from his leg, to his dependency on Vicodin...and his feelings for his best friend.

Summary
“The reason,” House says, “that Dr Taub here doesn’t respect our loving commitment, is that you’re not wearing your ring.”
“I don’t have a ring,” Wilson points out, reasonably. Then it occurs to him: “This is exactly how it’d be, if we did get married. You cheap bastard.”Wilson tries to return the ring. He just needs to get it off House's finger first.
