I fucking love this. Characterization was excellent. Sublime writing - prose when it needed pretty words, bluntness when it had to be raw. The premise was so perfectly wrong that it became my newest addiction.

sakura is in the land of waves, the ocean seraphic and filled with meaning. her crush is lying in front of her, dead, cold and so, so white. her sensei is bleeding out while fighting zabuza. naruto is fighting against the odds of hundreds of senbons.
(or: sakura watches her teammates get beaten half to death and bleed out next to her. when the bloody event ends, she realises that she's going to die unless she toughens up.)
