"Rei?" Her voice sounds out, all small in a way she doesn't like to hear. She finds she can't make herself speak any clearer, though. She repeats, desperately, "Rei?"
The birds are quiet, too, or maybe Muu just can't catch them over all the noise her body is making: meek mutters and heavy breathing and the pounding of her heart in her ears. Spinning in her mind are images of the corpse in front of her, thoughts of how she looks both dead and alive. All at once she stumbles forward on her hands and knees, grasping at the uniform.
She's given her first kiss to a corpse, to someone she killed. What's wrong with her?
