From the outside Castiel Novak looks like a regular guy: a good job, two teenage kids, a nice house and a crappy car he’s way too attached to.

“Any plans after shift?” Herrmann asks with a knowing smirk as he gathers his things from his locker. “To celebrate Casey’s return.”
“Of course,” Sylvie answers, bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet. “He’s finally meeting my parents. We’re taking the boys out to Fowlerton for the day so our families can get to know one another.”
“That’s adorable,” Violet says, smiling brightly from her seat on the bench. “How has he never met them before?”
“Our timing has been well and truly terrible up until very recently, that’s how,” she replies as she turns the combination on her lock. “But all that changes now. We’re seeing my family today and then having brunch with his sister and niece tomorrow.” Pausing, she takes a calming breath. “And I’m very nervous.”
