Summary
Sometimes, he wondered what it felt like. To be the cigarette, that is. To be created solely to be set on fire and have your insides drained just to give someone else a fleeting sense of comfort and calm, being run ragged without stop until you"re nothing but a tiny piece of who you used to be, only to be thrown on the floor and stomped out. In a way, Tord could relate, though not in a way he found too pleasant to think about.

Thomas remembered the first time he noticed a change in the Minho’s physique. It had been a quiet morning, the three of them lounging in the sun outside of their small house. Newt had cooked them breakfast, a hearty meal of eggs, bacon, fruit, and fresh bread. Minho had eaten in slight excess, as he often did, but Thomas noticed how his boyfriend"s muscular frame had softened. There was a small, yet undeniable, swell to his belly.
Thomas was beyond ecstatic. He could tell Newt was just as happy, if not more so. But despite the happiness Thomas and Newt felt, Minho clearly struggled with the changes to his body. When he was a runner, there had been no room for softness—only endurance. When they were on the run from WCKED, there was only survival.
Thomas and Newt make sure that Minho sees his new softness not as a weakness, but as a regular part of their new life.

Laios, who is pulling out bowls from the cabinets, swivels around. “Oh!” he exclaims, following his gaze. “That’s just Ralph.”
This does not assuage Kabru’s fears in the slightest. “And Ralph is..?”
Laios blinks. Then, his eyes widen, and he almost drops the dishes in his hands. “Oh my god,” he says. “No, no, no, I’m so sorry, I would never - Ralph is what I called my sourdough starter.”
“Oh,” breathes Kabru, slightly pacified. The kettle starts to whistle, and Laios scrambles to take it off the heat. “So it’s not… alive?”
“Well, it is,” says Laios, pouring the water into a couple of mugs. “I mean, no! I mean -” He puts the kettle down. “It’s yeast. You keep it in a jar, and you, like, feed it.”
“Huh,” mutters Kabru, and slumps heavily on the counter. He feels more like listening than talking, so he says, “Tell me about it.”
