Summary
The sudden, powerful burst of pheromones that he inhales through his nose is a lot to handle, the sharp scent alerts him, bristles every inch of his skin, causes him to flex his legs again, and the movement drops the knife from the sheets to the floor.
That's when he notices the silhouette dressed in a tuxedo, a few meters away from them, half-hidden among the shadows.

Incoherently, even if he hasn't forgotten the accumulation of emotions that he has for this person, the fear is reduced by knowing who he is. A mixture of nostalgia and affection threatened by resentment. Something that he doesn't think too much about.
