Ever since the rest of his race had died at the hands of the infamous Church of the Silver Flame, Sylas Delacour had been plagued with nightmares. He tranced whenever he could, avoiding true sleep, avoiding dreams, avoiding the memories of the fire, but a night spent in the arms of Captain Morgan Germaine breaks his resolve. He falls asleep despite his misgivings, and his nightmares are haunted by someone he thought he’d taken care of.

It’s been a long time in the making folks, but here we are! My first fic of legendary orc pirate bard Captain Dubab and Captain Morgan Appendix Germaine. The electricity between these two was too good to resist writing about, I would’ve done it even if I hadn’t lost that bet for it. Here’s an excerpt, and please enjoy!
“As much fun as we usually have in your quarters, I was thinking of trying something different this time around.” Germaine leaned back against the desk, letting oak press into his hips as he methodically unbuckled his belt. “You can’t lose a duel, so I’ve always wondered what constituted the limits of one.” The man let his words stew in the air, the sound of ocean waves filling the otherwise silent room. “Care to find out?”

Summary
When you accepted your first job offer from a reputable company straight out of college, you thought you were going to be there climbing the corporate ladder for the rest of your life. Unfortunately, things change. Monsters come out of mountains, magic stops being a fairytale, and people lose their jobs. After months of unemployment and the growing reality that Ebott is simply just too expensive for a person in your position, you move to Halfway, a pop-up town about halfway between Ebott and the monster city of Aboveground. Monsters, as it turns out, are happy to employ humans and the pay is fairly generous. The downside? Having a human work under you is more of a status symbol, so your jobs are restricted to entertainment and manual labor. You prefer manual labor.
In a world that’s rapidly changing and a line of work that no longer wants you, you go on a journey of self-discovery, meeting new and interesting people along the way. It will take time and a lot of hard work, but you’re nothing if not patient.
