“Uh, hi,” Tommy says, sounding a little thrown by the man who has just skidded to a halt in front of them. He’s got a tiny little succulent balanced on top of two honey jars, a canvas bag hooked at his elbow laden with fruits and veggies, and half a baguette shoved in his mouth. “Patrick, hey.”
Buck’s eyes narrow, because this is un-fucking-natural behavior for the man Buck’s watched cover nerves with flat amused comments, devastatingly clever one-liners, and nothing more obvious than a flicker behind his eyes. He looks like a deer caught in headlights.
The guy grabs for the baguette with a free hand, teeth white and perfect as he rips and chews and swallows. His eyes drift down, and then back up Tommy’s body before he flicks his gaze to Buck.

Summary
Buck ducks, makes a move to peak around the side of the engine, and nearly stumbles into the body lying beneath the ladder. Not — not a body, thank fuck, only a moment later the body groans again and Buck nearly loses the breath in his lungs.
He’s curled in on himself oddly, torso angled towards Buck, the leg closer to the ground bent almost fetal, top leg angled ungainly behind him— Jesus, it’s pinned.
“Tommy.” He’s still got no fucking clue what’s going on, except maybe there’d been an explosion? And Tommy’s pinned under the fucking engine and there’s someone just around the corner who keeps yelling and Buck hears something about the captain but his attention is focused on the road rash painted across Tommy’s forehead and the unsteady way he’s blinking at Buck, and the way he’s shifting his body weight. “Hey, Tommy hey. Don’t — just don’t move for a sec, okay. Just — just relax.”
