Her eyes were still on him, her shock still not waning. Despite having the same eyes as his late wife, he can’t help but think that this woman and his wife are two completely different people, not because of the color of their hair but because of the way this woman’s eyes looked radiant, far from the sullen look his wife had all those years ago. It had been a long time since he stared at those eyes that resembled a lake in the middle of winter; yet in his memory, the sadness in her eyes was as clear as day. He had been desperate to gauge the cause of the melancholy that seemed to take root behind her striking gray eyes. Ever since he was a boy, he had wanted to become the comfort she sought.
