Summary
All around Soundwave are the final crumbling ruins of a once great empire, built on top of the rusted out corpse of everyone’s hopes and dreams. Starscream’s roaring flame has dwindled down to weakly flickering embers, the once shining seeker a pale shadow of his former glory, while Megatron has finally blazed utterly out of control, the last vestiges of the good mech Soundwave once believed in lost to the searing inferno of hatred and conquest threatening to consume them all.
Soundwave silently mourns the slow, entropic deaths of those around him, but what else can he do but watch over their final days and bear witness to their grand tragedy? Megatron actively refuses salvation from the dark energon choking his spark and Starscream- Primus- Starscream would do anything to feel safe and wanted again, but is trust like that even possible in a war this bitter and unyielding?
There is so little hope left for any of them anymore but maybe, just maybe, a few last moments of fragile comfort can be stolen back before it’s too late.

Summary
Megatron has returned. The war has shifted once more towards active confrontation, Starscream is back to being his worst self, and the dark energon that saps the crew’s strength seems to be driving Megatron to entire new levels of hitherto unseen volatility.
Worst of all? Soundwave is beginning to suspect that Starscream was right: this wasn’t the cause they’d committed to so very long ago, Megatron is no longer the noblesparked mech he once called friend, and nothing about their situation is even remotely sustainable.
