Summary
Lamina had to admit that while Facet and herself had never been enemies during their time at the Zoo, they had certainly never been friends either. They had simply peacefully co-existed with one another, never interacting unless it was as part of the general group. Neither of them had never had any reason to change that too.
Only for one night on watch duty to change everything. Only for her to then find out that she and Facet were far more alike than she ever could have considered.
In fact, Lamina was positive that she had just found her kindred spirit here amongst the other tributes.
Treech however, was positive, that he had just found his mortal enemy.

Summary
Sejanus has always wanted to do good in the world. Even when he was a little boy, he always strived to be good and do good. Back home in District 2, he learnt by example, and when he was forced to move to the Capitol where those virtues wasn't encouraged as much as they should be, he vowed to never sink to the level that many chose to submerge themselves to in the vile city.
Unfortunately though, there didn't seem to be that many opportunities to do good in Capitol. Or any attempt that he had made to do so, often didn't have the desired effect.
It never stopped him from trying again and again though, damn the potential consequences.
So of course, when the opportunity to help a friend and to try and do some good again in this evil city, of course he was going to grab it. And he was willing to do everything in his power to make sure that good triumphed this time.
Anything.

Summary
Regardless of whatever the Capitol had liked to think about the Districts, none of them were monsters. None of them were animals. None of them deserved to die.
And that was equally true when it came to those who had had the misfortune of being Reaped for the Hunger Games. None of them deserved to die for the so-called crime of rebelling that had happened back when they were young children. They were all just kids whose luck had unfortunately run out when the time had come to pick a name for this years Games.
Only for a bombing to be what restored the luck for a few of them as it gave them the opportunity that none of them had thought was possible: to escape.
And now that they finally had some good luck again, well, it was only fair to share it with the others.

Lamina's life has always been marked by the loss of those around her. Those she loves always seem to choose to leave her. She wasn't sure why, but they always did.
She wasn't sure why she had thought that Treech would be different. But she had.
She wasn't sure just why she was still determined to fight so hard to live knowing that it was going to end with her dead in the Arena anyway while a stronger tribute managed to live. But she was.
She wasn't sure why Pup seemed to care so much about her, considering that she was basically a stranger to him. But he apparently did.
She wasn't sure why some of the other Mentors then did what they did.
She wasn't sure why about a lot of things any more.

Summary
At first Coral had been assuming that out of the two tributes from District 7, that the girl, Lamina, was the weaker member of the pair and that she was going to die pretty quickly once the actual Games began.
Could you blame her for arriving to that conclusion though? All the girl had done ever since they had met was cry, she wasn't exactly showing off just how much of a competitor she actually was. That she could not only hold her own in a fight, but actually beat someone too.
And if Marcus hadn't been as fed up as she had been with the non-stop crying, or if the pair from 7 hadn't been so protective and willing to go to bat for one another then she probably wouldn't have known either until it was too late.
Luckily though, that wasn't the case.
Or:
Coral learns pretty early on that Lamina is perhaps, a lot stronger than what she had initially presumed. And therefore makes some changes to who she wants in her alliance.
