Caitlyn blinked, visibly thrown off. “You’re joking.”
“Do I look like I’m joking?” Vi retorted, hauling her duffel further into the room.
Caitlyn crossed her arms, still blocking part of the entrance. “There has to be a mistake.”
“No mistake,” Vi said sharply. “I already argued with the RA. Apparently, this is my room now.”
Caitlyn let out a disbelieving laugh, though there was no humor in it. “Fantastic.”

Summary
Lydia has a long list of problems and isn't keen to add more to it, but when Betelgeuse starts appearing more frequently warning her of his vengeful ex-wife, well...clearly she needs to do some thinking about the company she keeps. Lydia is taken down a dangerous path as she tries to reconnect with her daughter in the midst of a mad woman's schemes, a teenage psychopath, and man she can't put in a box in the back of her mind anymore.
Basically a rewrite of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice but there's less plot holes and the bad guys are actually fulfilling their potential.
* Also disclaimer, any attraction between our two main characters is when Lydia is an ADULT. Same for Betelgeuse, he just wanted his green card and went about it in the worst way possible, it's just weird and gross to ship kid Lydia with him, or imply he's been in love with her since she was a child. Glinda Upland is having perhaps the horriblefulest day of her life. Which is really saying something because once, when she was seventeen years old, she specifically requested coral pink for her nails thinking that dusty coral was the obvious answer and then she got sunkist coral.
But today is probably even more horrible. It’s even worse than the most egregious manicure ever. Because Elphaba Thropp just exploded the Wizard and Madame Morrible.
Glinda, because she is a genius on top of being utterly beautiful and stunning, prioritizes. “How are we going to cover this up?”

Frustrated with her new roommate and dumbfounded by something she reads in her diary while snooping, Galinda is determined to get Elphaba out of her way through an elaborate scheme that involves befriending, flirting with, dating, and dumping Elphaba in hopes she will move out of their shared suite -- or maybe leave Shiz -- if she's lucky.
Two factors, however, complicate her plan.
One is Fiyero's arrival at Shiz.
The other is her own growing -- and genuine -- affection for Elphaba as her ruse progresses.
