"Would you be my boyfriend?” Kaveh blurts out. Seeing Al-Haitham’s eyes widen, he quickly corrects himself, “I mean, fake boyfriend! Would you pretend to date me? I’m sure it would cut down on people vying for my attention under the guise of seeking advice. That way, only those who genuinely need my help would come to consult me.”
“You really believe it would work out?”
“I do, actually! We’re already close, so I’m sure we would make a convincing couple.”
“That’s not what I meant…” Al-Haitham murmurs, seemingly more to himself, but before Kaveh can argue more, Al-Haitham lets out a sigh and says, “Fine.”
Nothing much had changed since their agreement to fake date. But overtime, as handholding and kissing started becoming a habit, Kaveh wonders if they were still pretending.

Summary
Arguing is Alhaitham’s and Kaveh’s favourite pastime. However, their light-hearted bickering takes a serious twist after a long day and one too many drinks. They cross lines Kaveh always thought to be walls and he ends up storming out of the tavern, furious and homeless.
As if this wasn’t enough, where Kaveh’s team planned to build, a Leyline has formed. Kaveh knew from the start the Leyline would be trouble, but he didn’t expect it to be the kind of trouble to send him back in time.
Here in the past, Kaveh is a student at the Akademiya again. A time where he isn’t in debt nor suffocated by workload. A time where Alhaitham still looks at him like he would trade in the world for his safety. Kaveh swears to himself to seize this second chance, but Alhaitham catches on quickly that there is something odd about his Senior…

“Did I do something wrong?” Mike questions, mouth twisted in a frown, eyes less wide than they were a few moments ago, sleepiness gone. His arms stay at his sides, although his fingers fiddle with his sleeves. “What did I do wrong?”
Will frowns back. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Mike doesn’t look like he believes him. Will doesn’t blame him. “Then why do you keep leaving?”
The world ends, and then some. Mike and Will find each other again, amidst the debris and distance.

Summary
“You haven’t been kind to them sometimes,” Mike inhales sharply, eyes glued to his feet, but doesn’t argue. Hopper’s tone is shockingly calm, but his words still sting with their truth. At the end of the day, all his problems with Will and El had one thing in common. Mike.

Over a decade of history, the best and worst moments of his life. Someone he’d lost countless times but who he’d always managed to find again. “He’s my best friend,” Mike says carefully, trying to articulate the storm in his brain and the butterflies in his heart. “I think that’s what it all comes down to. He was my best friend before anything else, and that’s what will always come first. We know each other better than anyone. Better than ourselves, especially the last few years,”
