Stiles' life might as well be flashing before his eyes. It's laughable how easily, how casually it all comes to an end.
He knows it's over. It has been the very minute Kam stepped foot into Beacon Hills with the single-minded determination to replace him in the pack that he helped build from the ground up. He could make a fuss, make as many scenes as possible because he's always thought he'd go down kicking and fighting. At first, he did, but there's really no point to it anymore.
It's over.
He knows it.
And he's not going to wait for wolves to destroy him more than this town already has.

Summary
"I haven't really had many friends," he confesses, "and I don't- I don't get out much. Never have any time."
Stiles gives him a long hard look, and, for a second, it feels like those eyes, like pieces of chipped toffee, are diving into his soul and observing him atom by atom. It shouldn't be as relaxing as it is, it shouldn't suddenly feel like this person knows everything, and will keep it all safe, just by virtue of the fact that he's kind. The feeling is so strong, that, for a moment, he's knocked breathless by it.
Then, the light changes from red to green, and Stiles is driving again, the moment shattered even more completely when he grins and says, "So, wait, does this mean I'm popping your arcade-cherry?"
Isaac finds himself laughing.
"Yeah, I guess."
[Or: The one where Stiles and Isaac become friends before all the werewolfiness happens, and the subsequent canon-divergence that follows.]

“Funny thing, that,” his dad spoke, “see, something that looked like Jackson Whittmore dragged you to me and kept making noises until he finally yanked me free from the wall and made me drive us both home.”
“Ah.”
