Hell, moments after the verdict was read in a federal courthouse in Brooklyn, hundreds of his supporters stormed the building, overturned furniture, a wave of riots in the streets, smashing cars and storefront windows, violently being forced back by police reinforcements.
But the moment of his sentencing? His green eyes had cut to hers — unflinching, direct. He’d looked across the crowded courthouse directly to the person who’d landed him in prison, and he hadn’t looked angry either. Face stoic, not a glimpse of any hidden turmoil, not even one of accusation that he could have so easily aimed at her.
