Summary
When what should have been a straight forward mission in Hell's Kitchen goes pear shaped due to lack of communication, teaching his teammates sign language seems like a logical step to Clint. Communication when their comms are down - great plan! And including the local vigilante, who's been working closely with them on this, is a real no-brainer.
Until it turns out said vigilante is an asshole that thinks sign language is beneath him, judging by the way he's stubbornly refusing to learn it.
(Conversely - Matt's trying, he really is but damn it, those two signs are exactly the same... what do you mean they mean completely different things?!)

Summary
Matt didn’t know what happened, one minute him and Frank are infiltrating a new arms dealing gangs meet up site and the next he’s on the floor,
and he can’t hear a thing.When Frank realized Matt couldn’t hear him he didn’t know what to do, calling Claire was his only good idea as he watched his usually fearless boyfriend huddle himself into Frank’s chest like it was a lifeline.
Claire was there in minutes, “what happened?”
“Flash grenade went off, I don’t think he can hear shit- I- I don’t know what to do.”
But Claire only sighed as she hurried past Frank, “Shit not again Matt-“ she mumbled.
That made Frank pause mid-step, “Again?”
Or, After Matt temporarily loses his hearing again, Frank learns about the other times Matt’s hearing had stopped working.
